As little design as possible.
Neue Haas Grotesk was drawn in 1957 by Max Miedinger with Eduard Hoffmann at the Haas foundry in Switzerland — a neutral, tightly fitted neo-grotesque built for honest, unrhetorical text that never raises its voice.
Marketing soon renamed it Helvetica, and decades of careless reissues blunted its edges; Christian Schwartz's 2010 revival restored Miedinger's original drawing and its optical sizes.
ITC Century Schoolbook descends from Morris Fuller Benton's 1919 face for young readers; the patient 1975 ITC cut keeps that even-coloured serif as the reading voice.

DIN sets the frame. Phi stays a measured relation inside it.
Every surface keeps the grid legible underneath.
One system, many atmospheres.
